Senior Infrastructure Migration Engineer
This is a consultant role with an initial 3-month contract and the possibility of extension. Competitive rates are offered. The consultant is expected to work onsite at the Bengaluru office 2 days per week. All travel and related expenses will be covered.
The consultant will assist with:
- Planning and executing end-to-end system and infrastructure migrations across technology stacks including ETL, middleware, backend job orchestration platforms, and related systems.
- Managing database, middleware, and platform transitions.
- Automating migration and configuration processes.
- Ensuring system performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing systems post-migration.
- Coordinating with Development and DevOps teams.
- Validating data integrity and system compatibility.
- Managing risk assessments and rollback strategies.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Conduct deep-dive discovery sessions with application teams.
- Build and maintain a requirements catalogue covering current and future needs.
- Develop capability matrices comparing existing solutions with alternative platforms.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and modernization initiatives.
- Act as the liaison between business stakeholders, architects, vendors, and technical teams.
- Support migration planning, execution, and operational readiness activities.
- Monitor migration progress and provide regular status updates.
- Ensure successful transition and stabilization of migrated environments.
Location
- Consultant must be based 100% in India.
- Engagement will be delivered at an offshore rate.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in Python and scripting languages (Bash/Shell).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
- Knowledge of database migration, replication, and disaster recovery techniques.
- Experience working with middleware technologies and application servers.
- Understanding of networking concepts including DNS, load balancing, routing, and firewalls.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
