We are currently seeking a Senior Data Modeler for a fully remote engagement with one of our prestigious global clients. This role requires full-time availability and an immediate start.
Role Overview
The Senior Data Modeler leads the design, governance, and implementation of enterprise data models and architecture blueprints, ensuring alignment with group-wide standards and local regulations. The role focuses on architecting scalable, standardized conceptual, logical, and physical data models, mentoring junior modelers, and enabling business and technology teams to make data-driven architectural decisions.
This position is strategically important for enabling data consistency, reusability, and interoperability across the client’s growing data ecosystem. By creating standardized and governed data models, the Senior Data Modeler plays a pivotal role in ensuring that data is well-structured, easily understood, and fit for analytics, integration, and regulatory compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related fields
Minimum Experience
- 10–12 years in data modeling, with at least 4–5 years in enterprise or senior-level modeling roles
Key Tasks
- Lead the creation, documentation, and maintenance of enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, physical) across key business domains.
- Review and approve data models developed by project teams to ensure compliance with client standards and architecture principles.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Data Architects to evolve and harmonize data models with the Group Enterprise Data Model.
- Establish and govern reusable modeling patterns, naming conventions, and metadata structures.
- Mentor and train Data Modelers and Analysts on modeling tools (e.g., Erwin) and standards.
- Support data integration teams by providing authoritative source and lineage definitions.
- Lead reverse engineering and modeling exercises for legacy and third-party data systems.
- Contribute to data architecture roadmaps and advise on domain design for new initiatives.
- Stay current with modern modeling approaches (e.g., data vault, dimensional modeling, semantic layers) and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Act as modeling lead in architecture review boards and data governance councils.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and oversee the design and maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models for complex data domains.
- Define and enforce data modeling governance, standards, and naming conventions.
- Act as the subject matter expert for data modeling, providing technical guidance and mentoring to data modelers.
- Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and business teams to align models with enterprise data strategy and business needs.
- Evaluate and implement advanced modeling techniques, tools, and automation opportunities.
- Ensure models comply with local data regulations and security/privacy frameworks.
Job-Specific Skills
- Expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling.
- Strong proficiency in data modeling tools (Erwin mandatory).
- Experience with data architecture frameworks and metadata management.
- Knowledge of MDM, governance, and integration patterns.
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to mentor junior modelers and enforce standards.
- Understanding of regulatory and security requirements in modeling.
- Language: English.
- Certification: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) preferred; advanced data modeling or architecture certifications are an asset.
